New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore has had a tough year.
After receiving a massive contract extension this offseason, Barmore landed on NFI early in training camp due to blood clots that knocked him out for most of the season.
He was able to return in November, but on Thursday, New England placed him back on NFI due to concerning symptoms.
On Friday, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo was asked about the situation early in his media availability, and he shared his thoughts.
“Yeah, I feel for Bar,” Mayo said. “He did everything right, and for those things to pop back up, just unfortunate. Again, I look at these guys as men first before football players, and there’s nothing more important than the health of our individuals.”
Mayo mentioned that they’re not currently having conversations about his football future, as the focus is on his health.
Hopefully, Barmore will recover fully from his illness, and if he can play football again with no limitations, that will be a bonus.
