Patriots could steal one of Jordan Love’s favorite targets via Packers trade

The New England Patriots could still be looking for receivers to surround Drake Maye with. While they could find some talent in the draft, they could also swing a trade for a proven receiver.

The Green Bay Packers’ receiving corps has been a hot topic this offseason. Between Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton, they have plenty of talent, but no true No.1 receiver. Watson is likely going to miss a majority of the season and the Packers have been doing their homework on the top receivers in the draft class.

Doubs is going into the final year of his contract, and Pro Football Network’s Sterling Xie has tabbed him as a trade candidate.

“Although Christian Watson’s January torn ACL clears the picture up slightly, the Packers appear poised to add another early-round receiver in this year’s draft,” wrote Xie. “If that happens, Romeo Doubs’ days with the Packers could very well be numbered. Doubs is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025. His trade value is tricky to discern — while he averaged career-highs in receiving yards per game (46.2), yards per reception (13.1), and catch rate (63.9%), he also suffered multiple concussions last season and served a one-game suspension following dissatisfaction about his role in the offense.”

Spotrac projects him to sign a four-year, $47 million deal. If the Packers are not going to extend Doubs, the Patriots could look to pair him with Stefon Diggs. He has 1,700 yards in three seasons with the Packers and has emerged as one of Jordan Love’s top targets. Love constantly relies on Doubs to win 50-50 balls downfield.

Last season Doubs’ injuries and Reed’s breakout may have ended up sealing his fate. The Packers would still have plenty of receivers if they traded Doubs. If the Packers take a receiver in the first round, then the Patriots might want to get on the phone and guage their interest in trading Doubs.
