After another week of offensive line struggles, the New England Patriots waived starting left guard Michael Jordan on Tuesday.

However, he wasn’t on the market long, as the Patriots re-signed him to the practice squad on Friday after he cleared waivers. To make room for him, they’ve released offensive tackle Jalen McKenzie.

Jordan, 26, originally signed with New England back in January and started the year on the team’s practice squad. He was signed to the active roster after being elevated for their first two games.

Before being released he started 11 of the team’s 12 games this season and received a 51.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

This gives the Patriots more options and depth, as they could start rookie guard Layden Robinson or second-year offensive lineman Sidy Sow at left guard going forward. They could also activate former first-round pick Cole Strange from PUP and have him play. Jordan also has one more elevation this year, so he could play one game while being on the practice squad.

It will be very interesting to see how New England addresses the issue going forward.
