The 2025 NFL Draft is coming up quickly and the first round will begin on April 24. With that being the case, the Green Bay Packers and general manager Brian Gutekunst have less than a month to figure out what they want to do.
As of right now, the Packers are scheduled to be on the clock in the first round at No. 23 overall. There will be a lot of impact players available for Green Bay to choose from.
It has been a long time since the Packers decided to draft a wide receiver in the first round of a draft. In fact, they have not drafted a wide receiver in the first round since 2002.
With Jordan Love badly needing more weapons, could Green Bay make the shocking decision to break that streak?
Sportskeeda NFL insider Tony Pauline believes that they’re strong considering that option. He reported that the Packers were among teams who are considering a wide receiver in the first round.
“The Green Bay Pasckers and Los Angeles Chargers were two teams spoken about in Columbus who will look at receivers hard in the first round. And despite their moves this offseason, so too will the Steelers, as Egbuka had dinner with head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan on Tuesday night.”

Obviously, from his report, Pauline is talking about Egbuka being a potential option for Green Bay. However, there are a couple of other options that the Packers could consider as well.
Love and the offense are close to being an elite unit. They don’t necessarily “have” to have another wideout. Adding another playmaker could speed up the process and make things much easier on the young starting quarterback.
Only time will tell, but this is something to keep a close eye on. If this is indeed true, Green Bay could end up landing an elite playmaker at No. 23 overall in the first round.
