The NFL free agency market has slowed down dramatically, but there are still some good pieces available for teams to take a look at. For the Green Bay Packers, there are a couple of players who stick out above the rest as possible targets.

One of those players is none other than veteran free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen.

Allen is coming off of his first season with the Chicago Bears in 2024. Before that, he was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL for years with the Los Angeles Chargers. Could the Packers consider bringing him onboard to give Jordan Love another consistent weapon?

That is a scenario that Kyle Soppe of Pro Football Network has suggested. He named Green Bay as one of the top potential landing spots for Allen in a new article.

“He is a sure-handed option for a Packers team that dropped the sixth-most passes in 2024 and is coming off a season in which he earned 14 end-zone targets, his most since his rookie season,” Soppe wrote. “A true WR1 is no longer available; adding a pass catcher that can help sustain and finish off drives is all you can ask for at this point in the offseason.”

At the very worst, Allen would provide Love with a consistent possession wideout. He doesn’t need him to be the player he was during his prime, but what he produced last year for the Bears would suffice.

Speaking of his 2024 season in Chicago, Allen played in 15 games. He racked up 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns.

Adding that production to the Packers’ offense would help it take the next step. Love simply needs another consistent weapon to work with. Bringing in Allen along with a playmaking rookie would be an obvious fix to the issues the offense has had.

Spotrac is currently projecting Allen’s market value to be around $11.1 million per season. They offered a likely contract projections of two years and $22.185 million.

If that is indeed his price tag, Green Bay should be willing to take a flier on him. A one-year deal would be even better, but Allen could truly be the missing piece that helps unlock even more of Love’s potential.
