The Green Bay Packers still don’t seem to be entirely sure what they are doing with cornerback Jaire Alexander, who entered the offseason as a potential cut/trade candidate but remains on the roster toward the end of March.
But is it possible the Packers are waiting to see how the NFL Draft goes before deciding what to do with the two-time Pro Bowler?
That could be the case, and Freddie Boston of Lombardi Ave is predicting Green Bay to land its Alexander replacement after swinging a big draft trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Boston has the Packers sending pick No. 54 and a seventh-rounder to the Eagles in exchange for the 64th and 96th overall selections, and with the second-round pick that Green Bay would receiver from Philadelphia, Boston predicts the Packers to take Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison.

“Benjamin Morrison is a first-round talent who will likely slide due to his injury history,” Boston wrote. “I can already hear the groans from Packers fans about the prospect of replacing one injury-hit cornerback with another. But at No. 64 overall, Morrison could be the steal of the entire draft.”
Morrison played in just six games this past season, logging 20 tackles and four passes defender. However, he racked up 33 tackles and six interceptions during his freshman year in 2022, and the following campaign, he totaled 31 tackles, three picks and 10 passes defended.
The 21-year-old is unquestionably one of the best defensive back talents in this upcoming draft class, but the fact that he had to undergo hip surgery will surely dissuade some teams from taking him.
Green Bay can afford to take the risk, and if it does manage to land Morrison on Day 2 next month, it could end up being a massive coup.
