Packers fan favorite sends emotional farewell after NFC deal

The Green Bay Packers have not been very active to begin NFL free agency. However, they did see former fan favorite running back A.J. Dillon leave town to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In recent years, Dillon has become one of the most favored players on the roster by the fans. Known to many as “Quadzilla,” Dillon will be missed, but fans are hoping to see him find success with the Eagles.

Dillon was originally drafted by the Packers with the No. 62 overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played in 60 total games with Green Bay during his time with the team.

Following his decision to sign in Philadelphia, Dillon has now sent a touching farewell message to the Packers and their diehard fan base.

“I want to take a moment to thank the entire Green Bay Packers organization, my teammates, and the incredible fans for an unforgettable five years. Wisconsin became so much more than just the place I played football-it became home. It’s where I grew up, started my family, and made memories I’ll cherish forever,” Dillon wrote on Instagram.

“It was an honor to wear the “G” and represent such a special organization. I’m grateful for the relationships built, the lessons learned, and the unwavering support from Packers fans everywhere. You embraced me and my family from day one, and we are forever thankful.”

During the 60 games that he ended up playing with Green Bay, Dillon carried the football 597 times for 2,428 yards and 16 touchdowns. Those numbers average out to 4.1 yards per carry.

Also, he caught 86 passes for 763 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

It will be interesting to see what Dillon’s future has in store. Joining the Eagles will give him a chance to compete for a Super Bowl with the defending champions.

As long as he isn’t playing the Packers, fans will root for him to play strong football in 2025 and will keep cheering him on.
