Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers have made a few intriguing moves in NFL free agency. However, there is still work to be done if they want to win a Super Bowl during the 2025 season.

Also, there is a looming decision regarding the future of star cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Right now, all indications point to the Packers parting ways with Alexander. That has not been made official, but the expectation has been just that all offseason long.

Nate Hobbs, the former Las Vegas Raiders’ cornerback, was signed to a four-year, $48 million contract in free agency. He will help replace the loss of Alexander, but Green Bay already needed help in the secondary with Alexander on the roster.

Keeping that in mind, there is a new trade target that has been suggested for the Packers.

Pro Football Focus recently named cornerback Jaylen Watson as the top trade asset for the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, David Latham of Last Word on Sports has named Green Bay as a team that could look to acquire Watson.

Watson would be a solid addition for the Packers. He’s not a “star” at this point in his career, but he’s capable of playing a consistent role.

During the 2024 NFL season, the 26-year-old cornerback played in just six games. Back in 2023, however, Watson played in 16 games and racked up 33 tackles, two sacks, and six defended passes.

Green Bay will need more cornerback depth than it currently has. The Packers could target that cornerback depth in the 2025 NFL Draft, but a player like Watson could make a lot of sense as well.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about Green Bay as the draft approaches. Gutekunst could very well look to swing a trade if the right one presents itself.
