The Green Bay Packers season is over and they will have key decisions to make in the offseason. Their secondary will be an area of focus and Keisean Nixon could be looking for a new role.

Nixon is a two-time All-Pro and was a solid piece of the Packers’ secondary. Both of his All-Pro selections came as a kick returner. To his credit, he did provide a spark for the team at the position. However, after the new rules were implemented he did not seem to have the same impact. He fumbled the opening kickoff against the Philadelphia Eagles. He is interested in a new role next season.

“I don’t really want to do it no more,” Nixon told reporters after the season. “There’s going to be talks with the coaching staff and stuff like that, but I think it’s over with for me.”

“I want to be CB1. CB1 is not doing kick returns. That’s just what it is.”

Nixon signed a three-year, $18 million deal before the season. He has been a decent corner and stepped into a bigger role with the injury to Jaire Alexander. Alexander could have played his last snap for the Packers. He has a $25 million cap hit in 2025 and according to according to NBC’s Kelly Hallinan he declined to speak to reporters after the season. He even noted that he does not know if he will be back next season.

“When Jaire Alexander was asked to speak with the media at locker room cleanout, he declined, saying he doesn’t even know if he is going to be here next year,” Hallinan wrote on X. “Said he didn’t have anything good to say so definitely wasn’t going to talk.”

Nixon had one interception and forced three fumbles last season. He started 15 games for the team and played a career-high 94% of defensive snaps. He did improve in pass coverage but is not a shutdown corner right now. He allowed a 57.5 completion percentage and a 78.9 passer rating when target.

The Packers will have a decision to make when it comes to Alexander. If he is indeed playing elsewhere, Nixon will have to step up in one way or another.
