O’Shaquie Foster vs. Stephen Fulton Joins Fundora – Thurman on October 25 in Las Vegas

WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster vs. Stephen Fulton has been added to the October 25th Sebastian Fundora vs. Keith Thurman undercard for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) will be moving up from the featherweight division to challenge Foster (23-3, 12 KOs) for his WBC 130-lb belt.

Former WBC and WBO super bantamweight champion ‘Cool Boy’ Fulton, 31, moved up to 126 last year on September 14, 2024, and has beaten Carlos Castro and Brandon Figueroa.

Now, Fulton will be moving up once again to challenge Foster, 31, for his WBC 130-lb belt. It’s a winnable fight for Fulton, as O’Shaquie is a defensive fighter with a low-output potshot style that Floyd Mayweather Jr. used during his career. It’s a style that is also similar to Shakur Stevenson.

The Ring broke the news of Foster-Fulton being added to the October 25th card.

Foster struggles against fighters with high outputs, as seen in his 12-round split decision defeat against Robson Conceicao on July 6, 2024. O’Shaquie came close to losing to Abraham Nova last year on February 16, 2024, winning a narrow 12-round split decision.

Fulton is versatile with the ability to focus on volume punching, fighting on the inside, or the outside. He can do it all on offense and adapts well during fights. Fulton’s lone career defeat came against Naoya Inoue in an eighth-round knockout loss on July 25, 2023, in Tokyo, Japan. Inoue’s punching power proved to be too much for Fulton.

It’s a good fight for the hardcore boxing fans that closely follow the sport, who know who these two fighters are, but it’s not the needle-mover the Premier Boxing Champions needs to bring in the PPV buys for the Fundora-Thurman event.

There’s still no word on what the price point will be for this October 25th event on PBC on Prime Video PPV. If it’s going to be priced in the $70+ range, it’ll require older fans who still remember Thurman to want to purchase it. Fundora isn’t a PPV fighter. Thurman was once an active fighter,  but his career has slowed since 2017.

The undercard needs bigger fights to create demand. Former WBA and WBC welterweight champion Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) has been too inactive since 2017, fighting only four times in the last eight years, and twice in the previous three years.
