Oleksandr Usyk Calls Tyson Fury’s 2026 Trilogy Talk “Crazy” Ahead of Dubois Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk acted with surprise today when asked about Tyson Fury’s comments about a trilogy match between them in 2026.

Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) beat the former two-time heavyweight champion Fury twice in 2024, with the second contest being a conclusive 12-round decision. ‘The Gyspy King’ Fury’s desire to fight Oleksandr a third time seems strange to fans, some of whom feel that he’s a glutton for punishment.

Oleksandr, 38, says he thinks Fury is “crazy”, and he doesn’t wish to discuss a trilogy match with him until after his rematch with IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois this Saturday, July 19th, at Wembley Stadium. The two are fighting for the undisputed championship, and it’s not a certainty that Usyk will be victorious.

“I don’t judge Tyson Fury, but I don’t know what’s going on,” said Oleksandr Usyk to the Stomping Ground, reacting to him saying that they’re fighting in a trilogy match in 2026.

It’s unclear how serious Fury is about wanting the third fight with Usyk, as this might be him trying to save face with his loyal fans. To show strength, Fury must at least pretend that he wants an opportunity to avenge his two losses. It would hurt his credibility if he came out of retirement without mentioning his desire for revenge.

“I don’t know, now I don’t think about this,” said Usyk about a fight between him and Tyson in 2026.

Usyk cannot afford to look past his rematch with Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) on Saturday. This is a dangerous puncher and a lot younger at 27. For him to look past this young gun would be a mistake.

“We have a fight in 2026? You crazy guy! After the fight (against Dubois), we [will speak] about this,” Usyk said about Fury’s comment of fighting him next year.

Understandably, Usyk is leaving open the option of a third fight with Usyk. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist Usyk reportedly earned $45 million for his first fight against Fury in May 2024 and $82.5 million for the rematch last December, according to The Sun.
