Oleksandr Usyk 227.3 vs. Daniel Dubois 243.8 – Official DAZN weigh-in Results

Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and IBF champ Daniel Dubois both weighed in today for their undisputed championship rematch for this Saturday at Wembley Stadium in London. Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) looked in excellent shape, ready to become a three-time undisputed champion in their headliner on DAZN PPV.

Career-Wrecking Loss Haunts Dubois

During the face-off, Dubois looked visibly afraid, having a nervous, rabbit-like look on his face. You could tell from looking at Daniel that he was starting to suspect he won’t be good enough on Saturday. The wheels in his head are spinning. He understands that his career could be wrecked by another defeat against Usyk, especially if he quits like last time.

“He has to start first and finish last. He has to go after him and command the ring. He’s a true heavyweight,” said Lennox Lewis about what Dubois must do to defeat Usyk. “Make sure he throws more punches than his opponent.”

Dubois will obviously be on the attack the entire fight, as that’s the only style that he knows. Just blindly attacking is going to leave him to being picked apart by Usyk, who will take advantage of his habit of loading up on every shot he throws.

For an ex-world champion, Lennox doesn’t know what he’s talking about. His views of this fight suggest that he hasn’t studied Usyk’s past fights to understand what he’s talking about.

Usyk has proven himself to be a “true heavyweight” by defeating Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury twice. Those wins, in addition to his knockout of Dubois, show that he belongs in the weight class.

Lewis’s “Running” Usyk Delusion

“His opponent is going to be running around the ring, jumping around. He’s got to cut off the routes and push him to the ropes with his jab. Then take advantage of him,” said Lewis about how he expects Usyk to run from Dubois the entire fight.

Usyk never retreats to the ropes. He doesn’t let his opponents back him up to the point where he stays in that position the way unskilled fighters do. As such, the only way Dubois beats Usyk is in the center of the ring, which is his territory. Dubois doesn’t possess the boxing skills to beat Usyk in the middle of the ring.
