Oilers-Panthers travel distance, explained: How far Stanley Cup Final teams will travel from Edmonton to Florida

For the second straight year, the Stanley Cup Finals will require a whole lot of traveling.

In the rematch between the Panthers and Oilers, with Florida seeking its second consecutive title and Edmonton seeking some revenge, going from game-to-game will be more of a challenge than usual, as the teams play in two entirely different parts of North America.

Just like in 2024, the squads will have plenty of time to unwind on the planes between Florida and Edmonton. Over 2,000 miles separate the two Stanley Cup Final arenas.

Here’s what to know about the distance between the two 2025 Stanley Cup Finals participants in Round 2 of Panthers vs. Oilers.

Edmonton to Florida flight distance

The Panthers play in Sunrise, Fla., which isn’t too far from Miami, the closest major airport. Using Miami as the airport location for the Panthers, the flight to Edmonton is about five hours and 38 minutes, not accounting for time-zone differences.

Florida uses Eastern Standard Time. Edmonton, however, is in Mountain Standard Time, which is two hours behind.

In 2024, the Panthers and Oilers teams acknowledged the traveling distance, with Panthers head coach Paul Maurice saying that flights would be a great time to get some things accomplished.

“It’s the best place to get work done,” Maurice said, per NHL.com. “You can watch as much hockey as you can stand on an airplane and read a little bit, too.”

How far is Edmonton from Florida?

The journey from Rogers Place, the home of the Oilers, to Amerant Bank Arena, the home of the Panthers, is about 2,541 miles (4,089 kilometers).

In 2024, the Stanley Cup Final between the Oilers and Panthers became the longest travel distance in the history of the title series, beating out Canucks-Bruins in 2011. Of course, with the rematch in 2025, that title will hold true for another year.

The Edmonton-to-Sunrise trip is also the largest distance between any two championship teams in North American sports history.

This year’s Stanley Cup final between the Oilers and Panthers will be the furthest between two cities in NHL history, per ESPN Stats and Information.
