EX-Nottingham Forest academy star Josh Travis has tragically died.
Heartbreaking tributes poured in for the late goalkeeper, with Forest saying they were “deeply saddened” by the youngster’s passing.
The Reds said on Instagram: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our former academy goalkeeper Josh Travis.
“Our thoughts are with Josh’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
Aspire Football Coaching posted their own emotional tribute on Facebook.
They said: “With the blessing of his parents, everybody at Aspire FC is devastated to post surrounding the passing of our U15 goalkeeper Josh Travis.
“Josh was a fantastic goalkeeper and a great character in the group.”
They added: “Everybody that came across Josh described him as a pleasure to have around with his polite and funny nature.
“Josh made a real impact in his age group, both as a footballer but more importantly as a person and will be sorely missed at the club.”
The coaching organisation said they had decided to postpone all games this weekend out of respect.
And they passed on their “sincere condolences” to the teen’s loved ones.
Another keen footballer tragically died earlier this month when “growing pains” turned out to be an aggressive form of cancer.
Harley Andrews noticed blood in his urine and was taken to the hospital for tests by his mum – only to die hours later.
He was admitted to the Royal Bolton Hospital on Saturday 8 November, where, according to fundraisers, he was diagnosed with leukaemia.
In a “devastating turn”, he died early the following day, on November 9.
Josh’s death tragically comes just days after Argentinian player Wanderson Brandao de Sousa, 18, was shot in the head.
police are focusing on the theory a stray bullet from the rifle he was cleaning hit his older sibling in the neck in a tragic accident.
It is not yet clear who the weapon, which has been seized by police, belonged to.
Tributes have been paid to Wanderson, who played as a left-back for Aragoiania FC. Sports director Silvan Rodrigues Castro suspended all club activities.
