Nottingham Forest 2 Midtjylland 3: Postecoglou under pressure with hosts in early Europa League trouble after thumping

NOTTINGHAM Forest fans sang ‘You’re Getting Sacked in the Morning’ as Ange Postcoglou’s side were humiliated by Danish side Midtjylland.

And supporters chanted for former manager Nuno Espirito Santo after Forest conceded a third goal late in the game.

Postecolglou is still waiting for his first win as Nottingham Forest boss – after six attempts.

Forest struggled to cope with Midtjylland’s threat from setpieces in a game they were clear favourites to win.

Two goals in six minutes from Ousemane Diao and Mads Bech gave Mike Tullberg’s side the edge – despite a Forest equaliser from Dan Ndoye in between.

But Forest supporters turned on Postecoglou when Valdemar Andreasson made it three with two minutes left after Darío Osorio’s pacy break.

Sub Chris Wood netted from the penalty spot after a foul on Elliot Anderson – but it was too late and Forest were booed off at the end.

The City Ground atmosphere was electric before the game as Forest marked their first European home game in three decades.

Fans unfurled a tifo from the Trent End which read ‘For A New Generation, Our Time Has Come’.

But Forest’s performance did not live up to the hype.

They threw everything at the Danes in the second half – and sub Chris Wood had TWO efforts ruled out for offside before adding Forest’s second goal.

Midtjylland – who won their opening game against Sturm Graz last week – stunned Forest by taking the lead after 17 minutes.

Nottingham Forest’s swap from Nuno to Ange Postecoglou is total culture shift like reversing the polarity of the planet

A free-kick from Aral Samsir was headed on by Bech and Diao touched the ball over the line.

The goal woke Forest up and Morgan-Gibbs White fed Nikola Milenkovic whose header was acrobatically tipped over the bar by Midtjylland keeper Elias Olafsson.

But Postecolglou’s side were level after 22 minutes when Gibbs-White raced clear and crossed for Ndoye to score from eight yards out.

It only took two minutes for Midtjylland to regain the lead though – during a chaotic first half spell.

Victor Jensen’s corner was met by two headers from Philip Billing and Martin Erlic – before Bach scored from close range.

There was more bad news for Postecoglou as defender Murillo – in his first game back from injury – fell awkwardly and had to come off.

In among all of that, there was a disturbance in the crowd when some Midtjylland fans in Category One UEFA seats sparked loud objections from some Forest fans who wanted them removed.

But Forest almost conceded a third from yet another setpiece as Diao headed just wide.

After the break, Forest were fighting for a point to add to the one they took from Real Betis last week.

And Ibrahim Sangare went close with a fierce drive from the edge of the area before the Danes sealed it.
