JOSE MOURINHO dismissed a question related to the 74 charges that Chelsea are facing for alleged breaches of agents regulations under Roman Abramovich.

The FA released a statement earlier this month confirming their decision to bring the host of charges related to the period between 2009 and 2022.

The statement read: “The Football Association has today charged Chelsea FC with breaches of regulations J1 and C2 of the FA Football Agent regulations, regulations A2 and A3 of the FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries and regulations A1 and B3 of the FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations.

“In total, 74 charges have been brought against Chelsea FC.

“Conduct that is the subject of the charges ranges from 2009 to 2022 and finality relates to events which occurred between the 2010-11 the 2015-16 playing seasons.”

Legendary Portuguese boss Mourinho was at the helm for five of the years in question across two stints with the club.

This led to him being grilled in regard to the charges at a pre-match press conference for new club Benfica’s Champions League clash with the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

He was asked if it would be unfair to punish the club, and potentially strip them of accolades, as a result of the alleged off-pitch offences.

But Mourinho was coy in his short and sweet response, refusing to get involved with the conversation surrounding the charges, and instead dragging another club’s legal battle into focus.

His blunt riposte read: “Not Man City?”

City are waiting for a verdict on their own case with the FA, in which they were charged with 115 regulations breaches in early 2023.

A three-month hearing related to the charges went ahead between September and December of last year, but no verdict has been given as yet.

Mourinho additionally distanced himself from the situation at Chelsea, saying he was unaware of the case against his former club.

He continued: “I have no idea about it. I have no idea of what the charges are. I will try to understand it.”

‘The Special One’ won three Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge, as well as an FA Cup and three League Cups.

He has also managed the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur in his extensive career.

But he now has the chance to haunt Chelsea and pile the pressure on Enzo Maresca, as he faces the Blues in just his fourth game as Benfica boss.
