Brian Norman Jr. posted a thank-you message to Turki Alalshikh on social media today for setting up a fight against Devin Haney in November, telling Turki that he will knock out Devin.
Turki confirmed today that Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) will defend his WBO welterweight title against Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) in Riyadh Season in November in Saudi Arabia. That’s five months away, which is a lot of time for Devin to prepare himself for what will be his most brutal fight of his career.
Brian Sr. Demands Haney Humiliation
Norman Jr. is going to come looking for a quick knockout of Haney like he did with his last two opponents. Brian’s father, Norman Sr., says he wants his son to knock Devin out, then step over him while he’s down and walk to his corner to knock Dev’s dad, Bill Haney, off his high horse.
Brian Sr. feels that Bill has become too high and mighty lately, and he wants his son, Norman Jr., to put him in his place by knocking out Haney and stepping on him when he’s on the ground.
“Make sure you step over [Haney] while he’s on the ground and walk to your corner to show you that you are beneath him,” said Norman Sr. to Thaboxingvoice.
Turki Alalshikh’s Fight Standards
It’s vital that Haney not run around the ring against Norman Jr. like he did last May for his fight at Times Square in New York City. In response to the backlash from fans over Devin’s performance, Turki said he didn’t want any more Tom and Jerry-type fights at his events.
However, Turki may need to have the ring reduced to 16 x 16 for the Norman-Haney fight to ensure that fans get entertainment value for the money they spend purchasing the event on PPV. There were many unhappy people from the Times Square card.
Norman Jr. Vows Haney Knockout
“You’re Excellency [Turki Alalshikh], I’d like to thank you for presenting this fight. Come November, I will knock that boy, Devin Haney, out in Riyadh Season,” said Brian Norman Jr. on X.
