NOEL GALLAGHER paid tribute to Ricky Hatton with a funny story about one of his most famous wins.
Hatton was joined in the ring by the Oasis brothers for his win over Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas in 2008.
The boxer bestowed them the honour of carrying his belts into the ring ahead of the bout.
Noel recalled the story following the death of his friend Hatton, who passed away last weekend and revealed he and brother Liam had an argument over it.
He told talkSPORT: “We were up at City and he said he was fighting in Vegas and he just asked us straight out ‘will you carry the belts out?’
“We said yeah of course and of course me and our kid (Liam) got into an argument about who was going to carry what belt, which went on for about four weeks.”

He continued: “But it was an amazing experience, an amazing night to be in the ring. It was a great fight and he won.
“He was just one of the lads. I’ll remember him as a funny lad, we had a funny night out with him after that we we were all out in Vegas, him and his mates.
“The image of him as the wise cracking lad, that was him! He always had a one liner and he will be sorely missed because he was such a lovely, humble guy.”
Liam Gallagher also paid tribute to his fellow Manchester City fan after finding out about his death.
He said of Hatton’s death: “Absolutely devastated to hear the news about RICKY HATTON.
“It was an absolute honour to know him and carry his belts. RIP CHAMP LIVE FOREVER LG x.”
The sporting world has been paying tribute follow the tragic death of Hatton.
Phil Foden, in his training kit, arrived unannounced with partner Rebecca Cooke to visit Hatton’s family.
The Manchester City ace left the shirt he wore in the derby with United.
As well as the signed shirt, he left a bouquet.
A message read: “There is only 1 Ricky Hatton. Rest in peace, Phil”.
People’s Champion Ricky, a dad of three, was discovered at his £1.75million home in Gee Cross, Gtr Manchester, on Sunday morning by his manager.
The pair had been due to fly to Dubai ahead of a promo day for an upcoming exhibition fight.
Ricky’s family said in a statement: “He was excited for the future. His bag was packed ready to go.”
