NICOLAS JACKSON aimed a thinly veiled dig at Chelsea after opening his goal account for Bayern Munich.
The 24-year-old joined the German giants on a season-long loan from the Blues, with the option of making it permanent for £56million if a clause for him to start 40 games is met.
Jackson found himself left out in the cold by Enzo Maresca following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro – not even making the squad for the first three Premier League games of the season.
However, the Senegal international was on target to score his first Bayern goal during their 5-1 thrashing of Pafos in the Champions League on Tuesday, as Harry Kane also scored a brace.
And speaking after the game, Jackson claimed his Stamford Bridge nightmare had impacted his start to life in Bavaria.
He said: “It wasn’t easy but we played a very good game and worked hard.
“I’m very happy to score my first goal for the club.
“I’m still getting back to full fitness because I hadn’t played and trained alone for two months. I’m working hard every day.
“I’m very happy here, everyone welcomed me very well. I feel at home. We’ll see what the future brings.”
Bayern chief Uli Hoeness said last month that the conditions needed to trigger the permanent transfer to sign Jackson would “never happen”.
That is mostly due to the record-breaking form of evergreen England captain Kane, who became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club playing in Europe’s top five leagues.
Indeed, Jackson, who had 21 goal contributions in 37 games for Chelsea last season will be hard-pressed to dethrone an ace with 17 goals in nine games already this campaign.
But Jackson’s agent, Ali Barat, was hopeful of seeing Jackson impress enough for Bundesliga outfit to make the deal permanent.
He told RMC Sport: “They have a mandatory purchase options if he plays 40 games, but they also have a £56m option.
“So I think if Nico (Jackson) performs this season, given the current market prices for striker, at £56m, in my opinion, they should buy him.
“It all depends on how Jackson fits in and performs.
“But normally, with the potential he has, I don’t think they’ll have a problem paying the fee at the end of the summer.”
