Nick Chubb predicted to sign with hated Browns rival, ending free agency stint

The last thing the Cleveland Browns want to see is Nick Chubb signing with one of their hated rivals, but one analyst thinks that could happen.

Chubb remains one of the most high-profile players on the free-agent market and is likely to be playing for a new team in 2025 after the Browns drafted a pair of new running backs in Dylan Sampson and Quinshon Judkins.

In an article naming landing spots for Chubb, Gia Nguyen of SportsCasting.com has the Baltimore Ravens as one of them.

“There are still some running back needy teams who could take a chance on the 29-year-old veteran,” Nguyen wrote. “Dallas, Baltimore, and Denver could all take a chance on the former Pro Bowl RB but it remains to be seen if anyone will bite.”

Chubb landing with any team in the AFC North would be a tough pill to swallow for Browns fans. However, the Ravens are probably the least likely landing spot for the Browns great when it comes to teams within the same division.

Baltimore is already well-stocked at running back, with the top-three spots on its depth chart taken up by future Hall of Famer, Derrick Henry, and solid backups in Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell. The Ravens also drafted Rasheen Ali in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft.

There is simply no reason for the Ravens to sign Chubb, who doesn’t offer anything the Ravens don’t already have. Not to mention, the 29-year-old will be looking for a chance at a starting job, something Baltimore certainly doesn’t offer.

The most realistic AFC North landing spot for Chubb is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are set to have a backfield led by a rookie in Kaleb Johnson and a solid complementary back in Jaylen Warren.

The Cincinnati Bengals are also more realistic than the Ravens, although they are in good shape with Chase Brown, Zack Moss and Samaje Perine.

We could see the Steelers taking a flyer on Chubb in 2025, but not the Bengals or the Ravens. Therefore, the good news for Browns fans is they are unlikely to see Chubb donning the uniform of a team they hate this coming season.
