NEWCASTLE star Dan Burn was rushed to hospital after suffering a heavy injury during the Wear-Tyne derby against Sunderland.
Burn, 33, hobbled off three minutes before half-time after hurting his ribs at the Stadium of Light.
The centre-back suffered a heavy collision with Sunderland ace Nordi Mukiele.
According to Sky Sports, the England international then signalled to Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and the rest of the bench that he couldn’t breathe properly.
Burn was then taken to hospital in an ambulance while the derby continued to unfold.
Howe confirmed the news after full-time and couldn’t share any more details.

The Newcastle boss, though, said he’s hopeful the injury isn’t serious.
Howe told Sky Sports: “Sore one, I think, for Dan, that’s very unlucky to come off firstly.
“He’s gone to hospital for a check on his ribs, so fingers crossed that he’s ok.”
Newcastle went on to lose to rivals Sunderland after Burn’s injury, which led to him being replaced by Fabian Schar.
The Black Cats got the winner after an own goal by Nick Woltemade just a few seconds into the second half.
Burn has proven to be a key member of Newcastle and England’s defence throughout the year.
The defender has amassed a total of one goal and three assists in 22 appearances so far this season.
