NEWCASTLE have seen a £45million bid for Anthony Elanga turned down by Nottingham Forest, according to reports.
The offer was immediately rejected without a counter as Forest have no intention of selling the Swedish star.
The Athletic claim Newcastle are weighing up whether to make another bid or move on to other targets.
A right-winger to compete with Jacob Murphy is high up Eddie Howe’s summer wishlist.
Bournemouth ace Antoine Semenyo is on the club’s radar.
A move for West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus is also a possibility.
Sky Sports report Newcastle are also looking overseas at Johan Bakayoko of PSV and Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund.
Elanga was a key part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side last season, featuring in all 38 Premier League games as they finished seventh.
The 23-year-old scored six goals and registered 11 assists.
Elanga was signed for £15m from Manchester United two years ago.
Newcastle are looking to splash this cash this summer after qualifying for the Champions League.
The Toon have supposedly received indication from Brighton that they would be willing to sell Joao Pedro for £60m.
They have also began talks with Burnley over the signing goalkeeper James Trafford.
