New York Jets running back Breece Hall is a likely trade candidate

The New York Jets have a few players who have been mentioned in potential trade talks this offseason. After another disastrous season, it makes sense that the Jets are looking to retool their roster, and they can do that by trading away a few of their veterans with expiring contracts. One player who comes to mind is running back Breece Hall. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and many have mentioned the Jets could look to trade Hall instead of letting him leave in free agency next offseason.

According to Bleacher Report Gridiron, Hall is a “prime candidate to be dealt” if the Jets fall out of the playoff race this season. Running back is a challenging position to value in the league because each team has a different perspective on it. Some teams value the spot greatly and are willing to spend premium draft capital and money on the position. At the same time, others do not see much value in the position and look to the bargain bin for runners.

If the Jets wait until the trade deadline to trade Hall, that could diminish his value somewhat because the team that acquires him only gets half a season of play before he becomes a free agent. But, if Hall is having a productive season, some team will likely take him. Hall is coming off a down season, during which he saw his rushing yards per game, yards per attempt, and total receiving yards all decrease from the previous year.

The addition of a healthy Aaron Rodgers did not help Hall, but that may change with Justin Fields behind center. The Jets are likely to feature a run-heavy offense, which gives Hall the potential for a career year. However, if the team decides to hand over the rushing workload to Braelon Allen, we could see Hall wearing a new uniform at some point in 2025.
