Mock drafts seem never-ending in the lead-up to the NFL Draft, especially as the big day draws closer. Now, with just five days remaining, the lives of many young players are about to change forever. The Tennessee Titans hold the first overall pick, and all signs point toward Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
Ward had a stellar season in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes have since replaced him with Carson Beck, who received a significant paycheck to join the program, opting to skip the NFL Draft.
The New Orleans Saints hold the No. 9 pick and are expected to target a quarterback, given the uncertainty surrounding Derek Carr’s future due to injury. Initially, Shedeur Sanders was projected to land in New Orleans. However, that no longer appears to be the case as draft day approaches. Instead, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has emerged as a strong possibility.
“And maybe Shedeur Sanders is the pick here, as many prognosticators have suggested. But Dart could very well be a better fit with rookie HC Kellen Moore,” Nate Davis wrote.
The Saints clearly have their eyes on a quarterback for the future. Carr seems to be nearing the end of his tenure, and Spencer Rattler has yet to prove himself. However, Colin Cowherd’s mock draft has New Orleans taking neither, instead suggesting they could focus on the defensive side of the ball.
“They moved off Marcus Lattimore, sending him to the Commanders last season, so they need a No. 1 corner. I think [Johnson’s] great. He was hurt at Michigan, but I think he starts for everybody in the NFL. … I think Will Johnson is an exceptional player,” Colin Cowherd said.

When healthy, Johnson was a standout at Michigan. If selected by New Orleans, he could form a formidable duo with Alontae Taylor, who has been thriving since being drafted just a couple of years ago.
