‘My kids laugh at me’

LIAM ROSENIOR has opened up on the effects that the viral “David Brent” memes about him have had on his personal life.

The new Chelsea manager has enjoyed a near-perfect start to life at Stamford Bridge on the pitch.

But away from the grass, much of the media attention aimed at the 41-year-old has been surrounding his unusual comments and methods when it comes to his coaching style.

Antics such as making a club physio sport a sign on his forehead reading “always connected” have led fans to draw comparisons between Rosenior and David Brent from comedy series The Office.

He also drew mockery for a particularly cringy interview moment in which he said: “In English, ‘manage’, if you split the two words, is ‘man’ and ‘age’, so ‘you’re ‘ageing men’”

Now Rosenior has admitted that he does see the hilarious memes – thanks to his kids.

He told Sky Sports: “It doesn’t affect me because I’m too old by about three or four years, I’m not on social media.

“I don’t see it, but my kids are all over it and when they see funny pictures of Will from The Inbetweeners, or David Brent, they send it to me and laugh at me. They love it.

“There was one about my dress sense where they said I had decent dress sense, my daughter thought that was hilarious, she hates my dress sense.

“It affects your family. I’ve had conversations with them to just enjoy what is an amazing experience for me at a massive club and hopefully they can see some really special days with me being at this club.”

Rosenior had a special day on Saturday as his Blues came from two goals down at half-time to stun West Ham 3-2.

Enzo Fernandez’s 92nd-minute equaliser made it six wins from seven for the former Hull City and Strasbourg coach.
