RASMUS HOJLUND’S season went from bad to worse on international duty with Denmark.

The Manchester United striker has endured a nightmare campaign, scoring just four goals in 32 Premier League games.

Hojlund was dropped to the bench as Denmark beat Lithuania 5-0 in a friendly yesterday.

Mika Biereth replaced him up front and put in a fantastic performance, scoring the opener and then drawing a red card after being fouled by Edgaras Utkus.

Danish media outlet Bold claim the Monaco star was “venomous” when it mattered and he has now jumped above Hojlund in the pecking order.

They wrote: “Hojlund must be shaking his pants by now. He has been overtaken.”

Biereth’s strike partner last night was Kasper Dolberg, who also got his name on the scoresheet.

Hojlund came on as a 72nd minute substitute but did not make an impact.

It comes after he also struggled in the previous game, playing 66 minutes before being hooked off for Biereth in the 2-1 win over Northern Ireland on Saturday.

Biereth, who was born in London and was on Arsenal’s books until last year, has also proven to be more clinical than Hojliund at club level.

He managed 13 goals in 19 matches, including three hat-tricks, after joining Monaco from Austrian outfit Sturm Graz.

Hojlund has been linked with a shock move to Inter Milan this summer.

Though he hinted at staying at Old Trafford last week, saying: “I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United.

“I’m looking forward to going on a summer holiday and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.

“I know I can’t get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are.”

But he may have to contend with the arrival of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.

Reports in Portugal claim he has threatenned to on strike to force an exit.
