The Chicago Bears have done what they’ve needed to do in the offseason.
For a franchise that’s been looking for success over much of the past decade, many fans won’t trust them until the product on the field is what it needs to be. That’s the unfortunate reality of where the Bears stand, but things are on the rise.
After making Ben Johnson the team’s next head coach, a hopeful year two bounce back from Caleb Williams, an improved offensive line, and more, the Bears look to be in a decent position heading into next season.
However, more must be done, and veteran players are available to help this Bears team reach the top if things go right.
Among the players who could help them include Trey Hendrickson, one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.
Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals have yet to come to an agreement on a long-term extension, and reports indicate that they won’t.
After posting 17.5 sacks in each of the past two seasons, he’d be well worth a trade for the Bears.
In a proposed deal from Max Dible of Heavy Sports, the Bears would land him for the No. 10 pick, with Dible adding that Cincinnati could use draft assets.
“Cincinnati’s defense was a serious problem last season, as was its offensive line. The franchise has not done much to address either issue, and the best way to do so after all the money it’s paid its skill position players is to acquire youthful talent on rookie deals. That means acquiring draft assets.
“Chicago holds a valuable one with the 10th pick,” Dible wrote.
If all it takes is No. 10, this could be a smart investment from the Bears.
There are some very good draft prospects available in this class, but none are better than the 30-year-old.
