Moment Amad Diallo goes for Man Utd team-mate during bizarre celebration in win over Wolves

MANCHESTER UNITED lit up the Premier League on Monday night and social media exploded.

But not just because of the result. In a 4–1 thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, the Red Devils eased the pressure on boss Ruben Amorim and found themselves level on points with Chelsea.

The scoring began in the 25th minute when Bruno Fernandes bundled a shot past the keeper.

Wolves briefly responded just before half-time through Jean-Ricner Bellegarde but United turned on the style after the break as Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and a second spot-kick from Fernandes sealed a comfortable win. 

But the match’s defining moment came after Mbeumo’s second-half strike, as players celebrated, Amad Diallo appeared to grab and roughly rub Mbeumo’s bald head in what looked like hilarious, if slightly scandalous, banter.

The odd gesture had talented fans and onlookers rushing online.

Another added: “Pretty sure that was a head-rob, not a hug, Mbeumo didn’t even flinch, so maybe all in good fun.” 

Then even his teammate Joshua Zirkzee said: “So he ‘Amad’ is allowed to but I’m not.”

Another fans said on X: “I like how the is team is slowly coming together and you can tell they’re just friends.”

Then another joked: “Just banter between the group, love to see.”

Overall, the consensus was that the moment was more cheeky than malicious — just a bit of locker-room humour caught on camera.

For United, the result delivers much-needed breathing room for Amorim.

As they sit level with Chelsea on 25 points, there’s renewed hope at Old Trafford that the season’s early jitters might be behind them.
