MLS start Mo Salah transfer war with Saudi Arabia as league chief urges outcast Liverpool star to ‘reach out to Messi’

He claimed that he had been “thrown under the bus” and that someone at the Reds “wants him to get all the blame”.

The incredible outburst had the likes of Jamie Carragher slam the Egyptian King, before later issuing a formal apology, while club hero Steven Gerrard also weighed in.

SunSport told you on Monday how the 33-year-old was a target for Al-Hilal and on Thursday the Pro League chief Omar Mugharbel confirmed that “Salah is welcome” in Saudi.

Now in a fresh twist to the saga – that is bound to rumble on in the coming days and weeks ahead – MLS commissioner Don Garber has thrown his league into the fight for the superstar.

And he went one step further by urging Salah to “reach out” to Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller – who both recently went head to head in the MLS Cup with Inter Miami running out winners against Vancouver Whitecaps.

In quotes shared by the Daily Mail, Garber said: “Obviously, if [Salah] ever decides to come to Major League Soccer, we’d welcome him with open arms.

“I’d say he should reach out to Leo [Messi] and reach out to Thomas Muller and see how happy they’ve been and how successful they’ve been and how much they’ve really embraced being in Major League Soccer.”

He added: “I’ve seen some rumours about Mo Salah. We very much believe in the sanctity of a contract. That’s an American business dynamic.

“Mo’s under contract to Liverpool, people we know. It’s a great team.”

Talk over Salah’s Liverpool future is the hottest ticket in town currently and SunSport exclusively brought you the news of his secret summit with Jordan Henderson in London.

Salah found time to quiz his pal, who had a five-month spell in Saudi with our pictures showing him concentrating hard on what the England international and former Liverpool skipper was saying.
