Mikel Arteta’s eldest son, 16, stars for Arsenal u17s two years after he was spotted on coaching staff

MIKEL ARTETA’S 16-year-old son featured for Arsenal’s Under-17s last week.

The Gunners boss, 43, has three children with wife Lorena Bernal; Gabriel, 16, Daniel, 13, and Oliver, 10.

Gabriel Arteta Bernal is not thought to be under contract with Arsenal.

But according to Gunners youth blogger Jeorge Bird, the teenager featured as Arsenal’s Under-17s took on Watford on October 1.

The two teams met in the Premier League Cup, playing out a 3-3 draw.

Unlike his father, Gabriel is said to play as a right winger.

Should he pen a deal, the 16-year-old would be a first-year scholar.

This is not the first time that Gabriel has been spotted around the Arsenal set-up.

In 2023 he was seen on the training pitch during the Gunners’ pre-season tour of the United States.

Aged just 14, Gabriel did not take part in the sessions.

Instead, he appeared to watch on with coaching staff while wearing Arsenal gear brandished with his initials.

Gabriel Arteta Bernal is far from being the only footballer with a famous dad around the Premier League.
