But the victory was somewhat overshadowed by the injuries to Declan Rice, William Saliba and Riccardo Calafiori, who were all forced off.

All three have been ever-present for the Gunners this season with Arteta confirming they were suffering from pain after picking up knocks.

He said post-match: “William Saliba felt some pain. Declan [Rice] was the same.

“The first one was Willy [Saliba], he was out from a knock that he took. And Ricci [Calafiori] too.

“I don’t know [the exact nature of the injury], not because I don’t want to tell you! But because I don’t really know.

“On Willy, there are two things related to his substitution.

“With Declan I don’t really know because it was knock, whether it was a calf or an Achilles.

“I think [Martinelli is okay]. He said he felt something, we do not know if it is a muscular issue or not.

“He [Saka] has been ill. He has not trained and we did not know if he was going to be fit.”

Rice was previously taken off against West Ham as a precaution after feeling back pain.

A problem with his right leg saw him taken off eight minutes from time against Palace.

Saliba was substituted at half-time, with the Frenchman previously missing one game with an ankle injury.
