The New York Jets’ general manager search is underway.
New York is expected to kick off the interview stage by meeting with one former general manager and a television analyst with credentials as a former player and pro personnel director.
According to an early Sunday morning social media post from ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Jon Robinson and Louis Riddick are amongst the Jets’ early targets as they look to replace the fired Joe Douglas.
“Search is on: the Jets are expected to interview former Titans GM Jon Robinson and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, amongst others, for their general manager opening, per sources,” said Schefter in an X post.
New York dismissed Douglas heading into its Week 12 bye. That move came 1.5 months after owner Woody Johnson abruptly dismissed head coach Robert Saleh when the team was 2-3 overall.
Robinson, who will turn 49 years old in January, spent seven seasons as the Tennessee Titans’ general manager before being fired in December 2022. Head coach Mike Vrabel was hired under Robinson’s watch, and a portion of the Jets’ fan base has expressed excitement at the idea of Vrabel coming to Florham Park.
Robinson started on the path toward an NFL executive career by working in the New England Patriots scouting department from 2002 through 2012. In 2013, he became the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ director of personnel.

A former NFL safety from Pitt, Riddick began his scouting career with Washington in 2001. He was elevated to director of personnel in 2005. In 2008, Riddick landed with the Philadelphia Eagles as a pro scout and proceeded to work his way into the director of personnel position.
Riddick has been a Monday Night Football analyst since 2020. In 2022, the Pittsburgh Steelers interviewed him for their GM vacancy.
The Jets’ next general manager is looking at a vast rebuild and the need to draft a franchise quarterback.
