Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Sign for 2026 Showdown in Historic Boxing Event

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Sign for 2026 Showdown in Historic Boxing Event

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather — two of the sport’s most iconic names — have signed with CSI SPORTS™/FIGHT SPORTS® to face each other in Spring 2026. The date and venue remain under wraps, but the deal is done. Tyson, the youngest heavyweight champion in history, and Mayweather, boxing’s unbeaten 50-0 defensive genius, will finally share a ring.

Both men confirmed the fight. Tyson admitted he could hardly believe Mayweather agreed. Mayweather, in trademark style, says it’s just another big stage to prove he’s still “the best in the business of boxing.”

Tyson Brings the Power, Even in His Late 50s

Tyson will be 58 when he fights Mayweather, but the danger hasn’t disappeared. Fans saw flashes of his power in his 2020 exhibition with Roy Jones Jr., which did over 1.6 million PPV buys — proof that people still pay to see him throw punches. His 2024 comeback event smashed broadcast records, setting the stage for something even bigger. Tyson insists Mayweather is risking his health.

“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, I thought, ‘No way this happens,’” Tyson said. “But Floyd said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would happen. It’s going to be bad for his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening.”

Mayweather Keeps the Show Rolling

For Mayweather, 49 at fight time, this isn’t his first fight outside the official record. He’s already boxed exhibitions in Japan and Dubai, cashing in while keeping his 50-0 untouched. Remember, this is the man who headlined the richest fights ever staged — Pacquiao (2015, $600+ million), McGregor (2017, $600+ million), and Canelo (2013, $150+ million). Now he adds Tyson, a global mainstream name, to his portfolio.

“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” Mayweather said. “If I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and legendary. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

CSI Sports Plots a Global Spectacle

CSI SPORTS™ and FIGHT SPORTS® co-founders Richard and Craig Miele say this fight will shatter every record Tyson’s 2024 event set. With industry powerhouses John Skipper (ex-ESPN, DAZN), Mark Taffet (ex-HBO PPV), and Chris DeBlasio (ex-Showtime) running the show, the fight will be built as a global entertainment juggernaut.

They’re promising “weekly premium storytelling,” a world-class venue, and even “new in-ring technology” designed to change how fights are scored and presented. Translation: this isn’t just a fight, it’s a money-printing machine wrapped in spectacle.

Not Everyone Is Buying It

On paper, it’s simple: Tyson’s raw knockout power vs Mayweather’s defensive brilliance. Tyson still carries danger in both hands, even at 58. Mayweather made a career out of nullifying pressure and avoiding damage.

This is why it sells: the brawler vs the technician, decades past their prime but still symbols of what boxing once was. Purists know Mayweather should slip, counter, and walk out untouched. Casual fans dream of Tyson landing one clean shot. That’s the hook.

Of course, critics are circling. Some call it a circus, a freakshow, another cash grab in the “spectacle era” of boxing. Purists argue it cheapens legacies. But fans remember Mayweather–McGregor in 2017 — mocked at first, then breaking every revenue record in the sport. Tyson–Mayweather might do the same, maybe bigger.

Will this fight count on their records?
No. Like Mayweather’s exhibitions in Japan and Dubai, this will not affect his 50-0 record. Tyson retired at 50-6, and this won’t be added.

How old will they be?
Tyson will be 58. Mayweather will be 49.

Why are they doing this?
Money, legacy, and spectacle. Both remain huge draws, and boxing is deep in its “spectacle era.”

Could Tyson actually hurt Mayweather?
Yes, if he lands. Tyson’s power hasn’t vanished, but Mayweather’s defensive craft is designed to smother wild pressure. That clash is the intrigue.

How big will this event be?
Expect one of the largest global boxing broadcasts in history. CSI Sports plans to surpass Tyson’s 2024 record-breaking event with full-scale worldwide promotion.
