The Mets could potentially be moving on from right-handed pitcher Sean Reid-Foley.

MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports the Mets are placing Reid-Foley on outright waivers. DiComo notes that this move doesn’t necessarily mean the right-hander won’t be on the team in 2025, but it’s a step they’re taking to remove Reid-Foley from the 40-man roster. However, this decision leaves Reid-Foley exposed to being claimed by another club.

If the 29-year-old clears waivers, he’ll return to the Mets organization.

Last season, Reid-Foley pitched well for the Mets. In 23 games, he pitched to a 1.66 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, with 25 strikeouts across 21.2 innings. But he also dealt with shoulder issues that kept him out for the first month of the season and for the second half of 2024. His last start in the big leagues came against the Texas Rangers on June 19.

Reid-Foley pitched in only one game this spring. He allowed one hit and one walk across 0.2 innings on March 1 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
