The Mets officially announced they have signed LHP Sean Manaea to a three-year deal on Friday night.

Wind of the signing came just days before Christmas, and the 32-year-old can now say he’s back with the Mets for the 2025 season and beyond. The deal is worth a reported $75 million over the duration of the contract.

“Sean was an integral part of what the team accomplished last season,” said President of Baseball Operations David Stearns in a statement. “He impressed on the field leading the rotation and in the clubhouse with his character, attitude, and composure. I am excited to watch him continue to flourish over the next few years.”

Manaea became the ace of the Mets’ rotation in 2024, pitching to a 12-6 record and a 3.47 ERA in 32 starts. However, it was his second-half performance that cemented him as the Mets’ best starter.

From July 1 until the end of the season, Manaea was first in the majors in innings (105.1), second in quality starts (12) as well as sixth in strikeouts (108) and WHIP (0.93). Manaea completed at least 7.0 innings in nine of his 32 starts last season, which was tied for the sixth-most in the National League.

Those numbers helped catapult the Mets to a playoff berth, and was crucial in the team’s Wild Card and NLDS wins.

He allowed just three runs over 12 innings in his starts against the Brewers in the Wild Card Series and the Phillies in the NLDS.

Manaea will now anchor a Mets rotation that will also include Kodai Senga, Frankie Montas, Clay Holmes, David Peterson as well as Tylor Megill and Paul Blackburn as potential extra starters.
