The Mets are making a habit of pilfering talent from the Yankees this offseason and another acquisition was confirmed on Monday when manager Carlos Mendoza told the media that New York has signed Desi Druschel as an assistant pitching coach.

The news of Druschel’s departure from the Bronx and soon-to-be arrival to Queens comes a day after the Juan Soto sweepstakes reached a stunning conclusion with the slugger agreeing to a massive 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets — the largest contract in professional sports history.
New York also signed former Yankees reliever Clay Holmes, which the team made official on Monday as well, a couple of days ago and brought in another former Yankees pitcher in Frankie Montas earlier in the offseason. Both figure to be in the Mets’ starting rotation for 2025 with Druschel reuniting with the two of them and aiding pitching coach Jeremy Hefner with the rest of New York’s staff.
