Mercedes summoned to F1 Las Vegas GP stewards for not submitting set-up sheets

Mercedes summoned to F1 Las Vegas GP stewards for not submitting set-up sheets

Mercedes has been summoned to the Formula 1 stewards for not submitting set-up documents in time for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

It relates to a set-up sheet that all teams must submit for both of their cars, as per Article 40.1 of the 2025 championship’s sporting regulations.

The Article says: “Each Competitor must provide the Technical Delegate with a suspension set-up sheet for both of their cars before each of them leaves the pitlane for the first time during the sprint qualifying session and the qualifying session.”

But the stewards stated Mercedes had not submitted the sheet by 8:12pm local time in Vegas, despite qualifying having started at 8pm.

A team representative must therefore report to the stewards at 9:45pm locally and it is not yet entirely clear what a punishment may be should the summons go further.

According to Autosport sources, however, the maximum punishment would be a disqualification from qualifying – though that is an extreme example.

This comes after a mixed qualifying for Mercedes, whose drivers George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli respectively qualified fourth and 17th.

It was a tricky session though given the wet conditions, which caught out rookie Antonelli, who claimed he was fast on his final lap in Q1 but took extra precaution.

The 19-year-old said: “It was tricky for everyone. Obviously, it was very slippery and just, yeah, I don’t know. The last lap was going to be good enough for top five and I took some margin in the last braking and just to avoid any bad surprises and just still ended up locking up and losing the lap and got knocked out.

“Two laps before I was in P5, I think, and then obviously to end up P17 is very frustrating.”
