Mariners Game #147 Preview and Discussion: 9/10/26, Rangers at Mariners

It’s a matinee rubber match today, as the Mariners hope to take a series win against the Texas Rangers.

Lineups:

JP Crawford hits leadoff this afternoon, while Gilbert takes the mound. Gilbert has a career record of 5-4 in 19 appearances against Texas, with an ERA of 3.02 and 113 strikeouts. He faces his Stetson hero in Jacob deGrom.

No Michael Arroyo in the lineup today, but don’t be surprised to see him pinch hit at some point this game (maybe for Montes) if a lefty comes in. Dan Wilson said pregame that he expects Arroyo to get some starts moving forward, as the team is slated to face a passel of lefties on this road trip. Arroyo might step in for the lefty Cole Young at second, but he’s also been taking reps in the outfield with coach Eric Young Jr.

Side note: shoutout to the PR/graphics team for Seattle, this lineup design is so much more pleasing aesthetically than Texas’.

News:

No news is good news? Is that how it works this year?

(Technically there is some news on Emerson Hancock, who threw a bullpen yesterday. You can determine if it’s good or not.)

In the wake of Muñoz’s 95 mph changeup (!!!!) yesterday, take a trip down memory lane to (checks calendar) one month ago, and give Kate’s excellent piece about Muñoz’s newest weapon of mass whiffstruction a read.

Today’s game information:

Game time: 1:10 PT

TV: Mariners TV, with Aaron Goldsmith and Ryon Healy

Radio: ESPN 710 AM with Rick Rizzs and Gary Hill Jr.
