Amorim’s apology
At least Ruben Amorim apologised on behalf of the players for their poor performance on Wednesday.
Speaking to ITV after the defeat, the United boss said:”I think the players spoke really loudly about what they want today. It is really clear.
“I just want to apologise to our fans.
Asked what was missing, Amorim added: “Everything. We need to be proud on the pitch.
“We come to the game against a fourth division team and we perform like that, I think the players clearly showed what they want.
“I am shocked. When we have these moments we need to show up. If we don’t show up you can feel that something has to change and you’re not going to change 22 players again.”

Devils on the shoulder
Welcome to SunSport’s official live coverage of Manchester United’s Premier League clash against newly-promoted Burnley – and you just never know what to expect with Ruben Amorim’s men.
The Red Devils are still in search of their first league win after dropping more points in London last Sunday.
Ex-Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe forced United to share the spoils with Fulham as the game ended 1-1.
Fans are calling for manager Ruben Amorim to be sacked with this result following a 1-0 defeat to the Gunners on the opening weekend.
And the pressure on Amorim has become even more intense after United were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League Two minnows Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.
But United have the chance to bounce back when they take on a Burnley side who have just been promoted to top-flight football.
However, Burnley go into this with the wind in their sails, having thrashed Sunderland in their last Premier League outing and by booking their third round spot in the Carabao Cup midweek.
Don’t go anywhere because coming right up, we’ll have any breaking news, the latest stories and the starting lineups before kick off at 3pm BST.
