Man Utd’s Europa League squad
Here’s Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s depleted squad for tonight’s Europa League clash in the Last 16 at Real Sociedad:
United’s travelling squad vs Sociedad
Goalkeepers: Andre Onana Dermot Mee, Elyh Harrison
Defenders: Harry Amass, Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, Ayden Heaven, Victor Lindelof, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro
Midfielders: Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes
Forwards: Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee
Ex-Red Devil’s blunder
Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Matej Kovar made a horror blunder to gift Bayern Munich the edge in their Champions League Last-16 clash.
Jamal Musiala capitalised when Kovar – who spent three years at Manchester United before leaving in 2023 – dropped Joshua Kimmich’s simple cross.
The Czech Republic international never made a first-team appearance for the Red Devils, but did play 53 times for their under-21s.
Arsenal and Liverpool target Kimmich’s lofty cross should’ve been a simple catch for Kovar but he jumped and somehow let the ball slip through his fingers in the 55th minute, to double the home side’s lead.
Musiala, who was lingering underneath the 24-year-old pounced on the mistake and tapped home his third Champions League goal of the season.
Man Utd squad trouble
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has been forced to name a depleted 18-man squad for Thursday’s Europa League crunch clash at Real Sociedad.
A tiny travelling cohort – made of THREE goalkeepers – will make the trip to Spain to face Sociedad in the first leg of their Last-16 tie.
According to Uefa, teams can name up to 23 players to a matchday squad for Europa League fixtures.
But United’s injury crisis has forced just 18 players to make the trip at the Anoeta with three keepers included in Andre Onana, Dermot Mee and Elyh Harrison.
Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte are the latest stars to have been ruled out as they joined Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo in the sidelines.
Becks in Paris
Manchester United legend David Beckham has been spotted at Parc des Princes watching the Champions League clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool in the Last 16.
Beckham spent six months at PSG before retiring in 2013 and was welcomed back in Paris.
The Inter Miami chief watched from the stands and took pictures with fans.
The French champions are currently goalless with Becks’ former rivals.
