United’s “attitude” stinks

Premier League cult hero Paul Merson has blasted Manchester United players for the attitude they showed against Grimsby Town.

He told Sky Sports: “Half of them turned up thinking: ‘I’m only playing because it’s Grimsby.

“I won’t be playing against Burnley on Saturday’. Instead of: ‘When I walk off that game, those Grimsby fans and players will go: I didn’t know he was that good.’ That’s not the case.

“The attitude stinks from half of them. Back in the day, there were shocks, the pitches were a joke. That pitch was immaculate and they should go out and destroy Grimsby.

“Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t get to the top by just his talent.

“And if he has to work hard as one of the greatest players of all-time, why can’t the Manchester United players? It’s arrogance.

“Who can knock on the door this weekend and go: why am I not playing? And they all want to leave! Where are they going to go? Who’s going to take them?

Amorim’s rallying cry

Ruben Amorim has issued a rallying cry to his troops ahead of their Premier League clash with Burnley following their humiliation at the hands of Grimsby Town.

He said: “In the end, the penalties don’t matter.

“After the game, the penalties if you win or you lose, the feeling [about the 90 minutes] should be the same.

Let’s focus on the next game and then we have time to think about things.

“We have a lot of debts with our fans so let’s focus on the game. We have a job to do, a job to prepare and then we’ll stop and think things through.”

Amorim’s apology

Ruben Amorim offered an immediate apology to Manchester United fans following their shock Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby Town.

He said: “I just want to say sorry to our fans, I have nothing to say anymore about the performance.

“When everything is so important in our club and you try to do everything.

“You have come from pre-season, even Arsenal you lose the game but you are there, you are improving and you see the performance, but then reach this kind of game, when everything is so important in our club.

“And when you start a game like this… I think my players are talking really loud about what they want.

“So I’m really sorry to our fans, I have nothing to say anymore.”

More on Garnacho

The Argentine’s imminent £45million move to Chelsea is United’s LARGEST-EVER sale of an academy graduate.

It’s also the club’s FOURTH largest sale in general after Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Angel Di Maria’s respective exits to Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

If Chelsea decide to sell Garnacho in the future, United will receive 10 per cent of the transfer fee the Blues receive for the Argentine.

Chelsea AGREE Garnacho deal

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign wantaway Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The Blues will pay their Premier League rivals £40million for the Argentina international.

United have placed a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal, which is the largest ever sale of an academy graduate.

Chelsea initially tried to get their hands on the Argentine with a paltry £25m offer.

United make Amorim sack decision

Manchester United chiefs have no intention of axing Ruben Amorim anytime soon.

That’s despite the club’s embarrassing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Grimbsy Town on Tuesday night.
