MANCHESTER UNITED should axe Ruben Amorim and bring in JURGEN KLOPP, according to Martin Keown.

The Red Devils boss, 40, is under pressure following a dismal campaign in which United finished 15th in the Premier League and scored just 44 goals.

Losing the Europa League final stole any chance of a bright finish to the season, with there to be no European football to speak of at Old Trafford in 2025-26.

And former Arsenal star Keown, 58, a former fierce rival of Man Utd following his infamous clash with Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2003, has suggested Liverpool legend Klopp to turn things around at his former foes.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Keown said: “After so many losses, I’m still concerned that maybe this isn’t the right manager for Manchester United.

“It’s going to be a very interesting start to next season for them.

“But they could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club.

“I’m not trying to sensationalise. I believe he could do an incredible job there…

“And I believe they need somebody with more experience than the current manager.”

When asked to confirm his thought by his co-pundits, Keown snapped: “Why not? He’s done a rebuilding job before.”

Klopp, 57, left Liverpool at the end of last season and appeared to rule out a return to club management.

Instead, the German took the role of head of global soccer for Red Bull GmbH in January 2025.

Arne Slot shows his class as he leads Anfield in chant about Jurgen Klopp after sealing 20th title for Liverpool

The former Borussia Dortmund chief spent nine years at Liverpool, in which time he developed a reputation for being one of the best managers on the planet.

Klopp was the manager to finally break Liverpool’s Premier League title drought, in the 2019-20 season and also won the Champions League in 2018-19.

As well as reaching two further Champions League finals in that time, Klopp helped Liverpool win one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Community Shield, the Club World Cup and Super Cup.

But since leaving, replacement Arne Slot won the Premier League on his first attempt, in what was meant to be a rebuild year.

Man Utd are expected to stand by Amorim this summer, despite a shambolic season.

However, the club are not expected to be able to buy any new players until they sell, with a number of players – such as Antony and Jadon Sancho – expected to leave.

Bruno Fernandes could also leave, with Al-Hilal set to offer him a mega-money deal, in a massive blow to United.

The Red Devils have already missed out on top striker target Liam Delap this summer, with the Ipswich star set to join Chelsea.

They’re now believed to be turning to Al-Hilal’s former Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic to solve their goalscoring woes.
