Man Utd star kicks off match for another club as he shares moment with Premier League legend

MANCHESTER UNITED star Leny Yoro took kick-off as Lille hosted Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening.

The defender, 19, had been in action on Saturday as the Red Devils beat Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford.

The following day, Yoro headed across the channel to watch his former club in action.

Standout defender Yoro spent seven years in total with the Ligue 1 side, graduating from their academy before going on to make 60 first team appearances.

United pounced in the summer of 2024, shelling out £52m for the teenager’s services amid interest from Real Madrid.

For their home clash with PSG, Yoro was finally given an opportunity to wave goodbye to his former fans.

In the French top flight, it’s normal practise for a ceremonial kick-off to take place ahead of a match.

From local celebs to notable superfans taking part, the gesture is akin to a first pitch in baseball.

Wearing a Lille shirt with Yoro 15 on the back, a club scarf and jeans, the centre-back made his way onto the pitch.

He then shook hands with veteran Lille striker Olivier Giroud, the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker plying his trade at Stade Pierre Mauroy aged 39.

After taking the ceremonial kick-off, Yoro waved to the bumper crowd while receiving their acclaim.

Once Giroud took the real kick-off, Man Utd’s rising star Yoro was treated to an end-to-end spectacle.

With PSG missing several first team stars including the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue, the home side piled on the pressure.

But it was the reigning champions of Europe that took the lead on 66 minutes via Nuno Mendes.

Lille kept coming, however, and finally levelled via substitute Ethan Mbappe.

The former PSG teenager left Parc des Princes at the same time as his superstar sibling Kylian in the summer of 2024.

Mbappe performed Kylian’s notable arms folded celebration – with his proud brother beaming as he watched on from the posh seats.

The 1-1 draw saw PSG go one point clear of Marseille at the top of the Ligue 1 table after seven games.

Lille, meanwhile, are a creditable seventh, despite having lost the likes of Jonathan David, Edon Zhegrova, Angel Gomes, Bafode Diakite and Lucas Chevalier over the summer.
