United consider Championship loanees to have a genuine chance of forcing their way into the senior squad.

Left back Amass, who made his United debut against Leicester City in March, has started in all 11 of Wednesday’s games since he arrived at Hillsborough on transfer deadline day.

Goalkeeper Vitek has started in all 15 of Bristol City’s fixtures and is joint-third in the clean sheets table.

Vitek is yet to make his debut for United but impressed in a pre-season friendly against Norwegian side Rosenborg last year.

United are looking to shore up the goalkeeper department, with the club likely to cash in on error-prone No.2 Altay Bayindir next year while third-choice Tom Heaton is approaching his 40th birthday.

If United ultimately decide not to integrate Vitek into their first team squad, they will look to cash in while his stock is high.

The club have started to insert sell-on clauses and buy-back options into academy sales, ensuring they obtain a second and potentially higher fee in the future.

Amass was not involved in United’s pre-season schedule whatsoever as the club waited to secure him a season-long loan.

Wednesday are at the bottom of the Championship on -4 points after the club were docked 12 points for entering administration.

But Amass has earned rave reviews and United are looking to strengthen their left-hand side next year.

January signing Patrick Dorgu has failed to impress while summer arrival Diego Leon, 18, has been playing with the under 21s.

United are not expected to recall Amass or Vitek from their loans in the winter transfer window.

United signed Amass from Watford’s academy when he was 16 in 2023 and he was an unused substitute 16 times before he made his debut under Ruben Amorim.

Londoner Amass impressed on the pre-season tour of the United States in 2024 yet then-manager Erik ten Hag insisted he was still not ready for senior football.

Amass, who received the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year last season, is under contract at United until 2027 and so is Vitek.
