MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly saw bids for two midfielders rejected on deadline day.

The Red Devils were in the market for a new No8 after signing goalie Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

Ruben Amorim has so far used Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in the centre of the park this season.

But with Kobbie Mainoo requesting a loan exit, United targeted two stars to bolster their ranks.

However, they ended up failing to sign either player.

The first was Angelo Stiller of Stuttgart, who is a four-time Germany international.

The Mail claims his club was open to doing business with United on deadline day.

But the player did not receive guarantees over regular minutes and decided to stay to ensure his spot at the World Cup next summer.

United’s second target was reportedly Conor Gallagher, best known for his time at Chelsea.

The England international has spent the past year at Atletico Madrid.

But his place in Diego Simeone’s side has never been secure.

Fabrizio Romano claims United made a loan bid to bring Gallagher back to England.

However, Atleti turned it down as they were only interested in a permanent agreement.

They also knocked back a loan offer from Crystal Palace, one of Gallager’s former stomping grounds.

United’s top midfield target throughout the summer was Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

But the Red Devils backed down after they were quoted £100million for his signature.

They could yet return next year, with Baleba believed to be keen on a switch.
