Man Utd and Chelsea flop becomes laughing stock as statue in his honour ‘looks like Frankenstein’

MANCHESTER UNITED flop Radamel Falcao has become a laughing stock once more – by having a hideous statue put up in his honour.

The Colombia striker had a highly-paid but disappointing season on loan at Old Trafford, leaving in 2015.

Falcao moved on to fare even worse on loan to Chelsea, scoring once in 12 games, before rejoining Monaco a decade ago.

The 39-year-old has now gone viral due to a statue erected in his home town Santa Marta, which some say makes him look like Frankenstein’s monster.

Built by sculptor Roberto Miciel, it stands 5ft 8ins tall and weighs over 180 kilos.

A message on the plinth reads: “Living tribute to Radamel Falcao Garcia.

“The Santa Marta footballer is famed for his excellent goalscoring seasons with European teams, and as a striker and captain for Colombia’s national side.”

Falcao, nicknamed The Tiger (El Tigre), won Europa League titles with both Porto and Atletico Madrid.

Capped 104 times, he also helped Monaco lift France’s Ligue 1 crown in 2016.

However his statue has sparked negative reactions on social media.

Fans wrote: “It looks like someone, but not Falcao.”

Another said “It’s a nice tribute, but his face isn’t convincing.”

He had a shocking two years in England

Someone else added: “Are you sure that is El Tigre?”

Falcao previously had a 19-foot statue put up in Colombia, with the all-white monument looking nothing like him.

The striker played 26 times for Manchester United, scoring just four goals for Louis van Gaal‘s side.

The Red Devils had the option to sign Falcao for £43million in 2015, but decided not to take it up.

Chelsea had a £38m option to sign him a year later, but they too declined after the Colombian’s injury-hit loan spell.
