Man City make major change to 53,400-seater stadium amid £300million Etihad renovation

MANCHESTER CITY have installed a new jumbo screen at the Etihad.

It is the latest upgrade amid a £300million renovation at the ground.

There were already two screens at the Etihad providing fans with matchday info and entertainment.

Now a jumbo screen is in place in the south east corner – just in time for the first home match of the season against Tottenham.

City have sought to upgrade the matchday experience for fans, with the new screen set to show larger and clearer team line-ups and club information.

Elsewhere the club is working on expanding the North Stand, with a new tier to be added next year.

That will increase the capacity of the Etihad up to 61,470 seats, which would make it the fourth largest Prem ground in the country, marginally ahead of Liverpool’s Anfield.

There will also be a creation of an incredible Sky Bar with premium seating for 450 people.

Plans revealed by the club also showed off a new City Square Fanzone, club museum, City Store, and a mammoth 400-bed hotel.

Many of these features won’t be available until next year.

In January, City’s Director of Infrastructure and Development Ed Dalton said: “Work is progressing at pace.

“The project is split into four different sections.

“We have the North Stand development, the hotel, a commercial wing, and the covered fan zone from City Square.

“Over the summer and winter months, we’ve completed all ground works.

“We did as much work as we could during the close season to minimise disruption to fans.”
