MANCHESTER UNITED have made a big change to Old Trafford ahead of the visit of Brighton.

Work has been carried out around the stadium in recent weeks.

The latest renovation has taken place in the Stretford End.

It has seen new safe standing areas introduced, with an additional 6,000 seats installed per the Daily Mail.

That will take the number of safe standing seats to more than 13,500 – 18 per cent of the ground.

And that would mean Old Trafford has the most safe standing seats in the country, overtaking Tottenham’s 10,000.

United completed the first phase of the development prior to the win over Sunderland earlier this month.

It is expected the project will be completed by the time Everton visit Old Trafford on November 24.

The club say the works have been met with approval by the fanbase – but there are no plans to implement safe standing elsewhere in the ground.

United said of the project: “This latest development reflects the club’s ongoing investment in enhancing the matchday experience, with safe standing widely recognised for boosting atmosphere while also improving safety.”

The club are still working to acquire land around Old Trafford to build a new 100,000 all-seater stadium.

And they will foot the bill for their £2billion stadium project.

But with a move-in date not until 2030 at the earliest, they have taken steps to improve fan experience in the mean time.
