MAFS presenter Paul Carrick Brunson has revealed the bizarre way he became a co-owner of a non-league side.
The American bought into Sutton United in August last year.
The love affair began by chance but Brunson was hooked after watching The U’s in action alongside his son.
Brunson picked Sutton out at random during an appearance on TV, but he did not look back after becoming enamoured with the community at the club.
He explained during Sutton’s FA Cup defeat to Shrewsbury live on the BBC: “I literally picked Sutton United out of a hat, which is an incredible story.
“But that was two years ago, [I] made investment into the team. It has been one of the best moves of my life.

“To be here in this community, it’s changed my life.
Brunson, 50, was invited to attend a match at Gander Green Lane after picking Sutton from a hat on Channel 4‘s Sunday Brunch.
He was encouraged to pick a team by presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.
Brunson explained: “I was on Sunday Brunch and Tim and Simon said ‘Paul you’ve been here for five years, you haven’t selected a team yet’.
“They put all the teams in a hat. Craig David is next to me and we reach into the hat and pull out Sutton United.
“Then someone from Sutton United sends a tweet and says ‘Paul we invite you to come down’.
“I came with my son and Sutton won. Then we came to our second game, Sutton won again, and that’s how it started.
“There were 112 teams. It could have been any team.”
