Luke Littler gives his verdict on whether Michael Carrick should be Man Utd’s next permanent manager

LUKE LITTLER reckons Manchester United have found their “incredible” new boss right under their noses in Michael Carrick.

The Darts World Champion — and lifelong United fanatic — believes the interim coach has done enough to land the job permanently.

Littler, 19, told BetMGM Premier League Darts: “What he has done so far has been incredible. We need to keep it up now.”

Since joining as interim, Carrick has achieved three Premier League wins in a row.

He oversaw a 2-0 victory over neighbours Manchester City, before winning away at table toppers Arsenal in a thriller.

United most recently overcame Fulham at Old Trafford – Benjamin Sesko’s late winner gave Carrick three Prem wins from three.

But he reserved special praise for Patrick Dorgu, who has scored twice under the new boss.

Littler said: “Look at Patrick Dorgu, for example.

“He looks a different player at left wing than he did in Amorim’s system, much improved.”

The sole aim for Manchester United is Champions League qualification, after Carrick’s side bowed out of the FA Cup at home to Brighton.

And Littler believes if they secure a Champions League spot, the board must hand Carrick the keys.

He concluded: “I think it will be very hard for the board not to appoint him.”
